Grand Summit Resort Hotel

Steamboat, Colorado

The Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel Condominium is situated on Mt. Werner Circle at the base of the Steamboat ski area on a 19.9 acres parcel commonly known as The Knoll. The approximately 450,000 square foot building was approved in 1998 for 232 residential units, ancillary hotel operations commercial space including restaurants, spa, fitness center, swimming pool and approximately 14,000 square foot of street front retail. The developer of the property, Grand Summit Resort Properties, a subsidiary of American Skiing Company Resort Properties (ASCRP), elected to build the project in two phases, the first containing 182 units, along with the infrastructure for the remaining 50 residential scheduled to be developed at a later date.

In October 2000, the Steamboat Grand opened for business with 174 of the 182 Phase I units completed. The remaining eight penthouse units located on the seventh and eight floors remained incomplete throughout the 2000-01 ski season. In June 2001, American Skiing Company Resort Properties engaged Daedalus USA to oversee the completion of the penthouses, along with coordination of punch list items with Colorado First/PCL Partnership, the original general contractor for the project.

ASCRP, along with Daedalus, contracted with Drahota Construction to complete the eight penthouses.
